Okay, I figured that since I start so many threads about Bob that it was time that he and the other large furry critters that "bless" us had their own section. He's a pain and a wonder at the same time. And now, in light of the fact that we have a second bear, "Junior" I believe that there will be alot for me to write this coming year.
Bob was on our deck again last night. It was the night before garbage pick-up. He went through the neighborhood going from can to can upsetting people and dogs.
On our deck he knocked over the garbage can, grabbed the bag that had the most fun stuff in it and tried to drag it over the deck gate. It got caught on the latch and another spot and ripped open and dropped back onto the deck. And what we found was a tipped over can, garbage all over the deck, a destroyed bag, and bag fragments caught in two places on the gate.
He went over to my brother's house, knocked over the garbage and rolled the cans under the deck. My brother went out the basement door and found himself face to face with Bob. Bob proceeded to the next house and we could hear the dog have a hissy fit. I suppose this went on for awhile.....moving from house to house.
Sigh...what a bear.... _________________ Jesus died and lived to tell about it......

Okay, last night we were watching "Fosters" and Michael comes out of the kitchen kind of pale and says "Bob's on the deck". So we all go to the kitchen and gather around the door to watch him eat our garbage. After a couple of minutes Bob got a bit nervous and decided to leave.
As soon as he got off of the deck I went out there to see where he was headed. I could hear him walking through leaves. Anyway, before I could get to the edge of the deck to see him the kids were yelling he was by the van. (The same van that chased him last year...how soon we forget Mr. Bear....)Before I could see him again my husband hit the panic button for the van and it began honking and flashing its lights. They said Bob took off really fast to my brothers house next door.
I called my sister-in-law and told her Bob was headed her way. She turned on their outside lights and called me back. She said that Bob was in her apple tree and that he was breaking the branches trying to get to the feeders. We went out onto the deck and watched him. We could see flashes of light coming from the house so we know they were taking pictures. Bob got sick of it and left. About 5 minutes later my kids are yelling that Bob was back in my brothers yard. So we went out and watched again. I called again and my brother answered and I told him Bob was back. The big lights went on again and the picture taking resumed. Bob put up with it this time long enough to eat their suet. He even laid down in their lawn while eating!
Anyway, hopefully, we will have pictures to share. It was dark and raining but my sister in law works at a photography shop so there's a good chance she got good pictures. As soon as I get them I'll scan them in for everyone to see. (He may even become my avatar!)
I guess Bob is going to be a regular source of amusement here till about January when they go to hybernate. In the meantime....we clean garbage off the deck on a weekly basis now. This weekend my hubby will repair the pickett fence which "Junior" broke so that we can string icicle lights on it. Hopefully, bringing in the feeders every night will stop the fence destruction. And white icicle lights are blindingly bright if you look right at them so I hope they will deter the bears. _________________ Jesus died and lived to tell about it......

I suspect our garbage will smell extra yummy tonight because of all of the food I've been preparing! _________________ Jesus died and lived to tell about it......
